Noise exposure monitoring is required by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) under the Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulation 2019, which will hereinafter be referred to as Noise Exposure Regulations 4 of the Noise Exposure Regulation requires Noise Risk Assessment (NRA) to be conducted at every area involving exposure to excessive noise levels in the workplace.
Objective Noise Risk Assessment (NRA) is to comply with Regulation 4, Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019
The specific objectives of noise risk assessment (NRA) as per below:
To determine the noise sources and work activities which could assist in the formulation of new measures to reduce noise.
To evaluate and map the work area into different noise zones using Sound Level Meter
To identify and classify personnel according to their job classification and work areas subjected to types of noise and level of noise exposed.
To conduct personal noise exposure monitoring for employees that performed work task at work areas with high risk of noise exposure using dosimeter.
To recommend appropriate control measures in compliance to the Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019
Scope of Work Noise Risk Assessment (NRA)
Noise Risk Assessment (NRA) Monitoring as per DOSH Requirements covers:
Area Noise Monitoring / Mapping - To map work area into different noise zones & to identify and confirm the noise sources, level & type of noise created at the selected locations/areas.
Personal Noise Monitoring (8 Hours) - To assess personal noise exposure on selected personal working at the following high noise area for 8 hours. One personal noise monitoring at each high noise area.
Recommendation to reduce Noise - To recommend management on the appropriate measures to be taken in any event the result recorded exceeded the action level and permissible level.
